Selling Items You Already Own: Importing Existing Purchases

How to add items you already own to your Croissant Collection so you can sell them to Croissant for credit.

Written by Croissant Support

Can I sell items I bought before joining Croissant?

Yes! You don't need to have bought an item through Croissant to sell it. If you already own something from a partner retailer, you can import it into your Collection and sell it to Croissant for credit. The easiest way is Gmail Sync, which finds your eligible past purchases automatically. (Shopping with the extension active is still the best way to earn credit back going forward — Gmail Sync is for things you've already bought.)

Import with Gmail Sync

  1. Tap the ⋯ menu at the top right of your Home screen.

  2. Open Account Management.

  3. Under Synced Accounts, tap Get Started and follow Google's steps to securely connect your Gmail. Once connected, eligible purchases import automatically with resale values — watch your Collection grow.

Your privacy:

Croissant only looks for receipt emails from our supported brands and retailers, and doesn't store or access anything beyond what's needed to import your items with accurate details.

Already synced but not seeing new items? Re-sync — tap the × next to your Gmail address to remove it, then add it again.

No Gmail account?

Right now, Gmail Sync is the only way to import your past receipts — other email providers aren't supported yet. It's something we may add as the product evolves, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, any email works for your future purchases — shop with the Croissant browser extension installed (see Set up the Croissant extension) or choose Continue with Croissant at checkout, and those items are added to your Collection automatically.

Why an item might not appear

Most often, the item simply isn't eligible for a buyback — that's the likely reason, not a syncing glitch, so there's no need to keep waiting and refreshing (see "What qualifies?" just below). Two less-common causes:

  • The import didn't finish — try it again from the start.

  • The app needs a refresh — close and reopen it, and make sure you're on the latest version.

What qualifies?

Not every imported item is eligible — items from unknown or unsupported brands won't get a resale value or a sell option. For what qualifies, see What items qualify for buybacks?. Unsure about a specific item? Email [email protected].

Ready to sell?

Once an item is in your Collection, you can sell it like any other. For the full walkthrough, see How to sell items with Croissant.
