Understanding Croissant Credit

A plain-language guide to Croissant credit — what each term means (credit, flex credit, Credit Drops, buyback, gift cards, and more) and how they all work together.

Written by Croissant Support

Croissant has a few kinds of credit, and they all add up to one thing: credit toward what you buy next. Here's what each term means and how they work together.

The one thing to know

Your credit is your spendable balance — made up of flex credit (what you earn shopping and selling) plus any Credit Drops (bonuses from Croissant or partner merchants). Everything below is just a way you earn it or spend it.

The ways you get credit

It all pools in your Wallet, ready to redeem.

Credit

Your flexible balance, earned by shopping (10% credit back) and selling. Spend it anywhere — convert it to a gift card or apply it when you pay with Croissant. It doesn't expire. More on this → How Croissant's 10% credit back works

Earned credit

Your earned balance, built up from shopping (10% credit back) and selling. Spend it anywhere Croissant works — pay with Croissant at checkout, or (at Revolve and FWRD) convert it into a gift card. It doesn't expire. In your Wallet this shows as "Earned Credit." Don't confuse it with a "Flexible Credit Drop" — that's a claimed Premium drop with drop rules (see Premium Credit Drop below), not this spend-anywhere balance. More on this → How Croissant's 10% credit back works

Credit Drops

Bonus credit from Croissant or a partner merchant. Each drop sets its own minimum to spend (shown on the drop), is used in one order (no leftover balance), and expires (the date is shown on the drop). Most drops are tied to a specific retailer — you'll see the brand right on the card. A drop is also non-refundable once used — if you return the order you applied it to, the drop isn't credited back. (A gift card is different — a refund goes back to the gift card.) More on this → How to find and use your Credit Drops

Premium Credit Drop

Each month, Croissant Premium members claim a Credit Drop — choosing $100 to spend with Croissant Pay partners or a $50 Revolve or FWRD gift card. Claim it in your Wallet, and it expires about 30 days after you claim it. Once you claim the $100, your Wallet labels it a "Flexible Credit Drop" — despite the name, it's a Credit Drop (Croissant Pay checkout, single order, expires), not the spend-anywhere earned credit above. More on this → Your Premium Credit Drop

  • Earned credit vs. "Flexible Credit Drop" — not the same thing. Earned credit is what you earn shopping and selling — spend it anywhere, it never expires (your Wallet shows it as "Earned Credit"). A "Flexible Credit Drop" is what your Wallet calls a claimed $100 Premium drop — it's a Credit Drop (Croissant Pay checkout only, used in one order, expires). Same "flexible," different things.

10% credit back

Shop with Croissant active and you earn 10% of your purchase back in credit. It shows up as pending first, then becomes available to spend. More on this → How Croissant's 10% credit back works

Buyback

The resale value on eligible items you buy — the credit you'll get when you sell them back. Buyback values can increase or decrease with the resale market; the amount is locked in and guaranteed the moment you initiate a sale. More on this → Buybacks 101

Earn vs. redeem

Two words you'll see: you earn credit (by shopping, selling, or getting a Credit Drop), and you redeem it when you spend it — apply it at checkout with Croissant, or convert it to a gift card.

Gift cards

Right now you can create a gift card only at Revolve and FWRD (they don't support paying with Croissant at checkout) — turn your credit into that retailer's gift card. At every other partner, you spend your credit at checkout with Croissant instead. Returned an item you bought with a gift card? The refund goes back to that same gift card — your money isn't lost. (This is different from a Credit Drop, which isn't restored once used.) More on this → How to convert credit to a gift card and Gift Card Balance, Returns & Refunds, and Removing Used Cards

Pending vs. available credit

Pending credit isn't spendable yet — it typically clears in about 45 days once the return window closes. Available credit is ready to use right now. More on this → Why is my credit pending?

Your Wallet

Where all your credit, Credit Drops, and gift cards live. Check your balance, shop your Credit Drops, convert credit, and manage gift cards in one place. More on this → How to redeem your Croissant credit

How it all fits together

Earn —you earn flex credit when you shop (10% credit back) and when you sell. Croissant Premium members earn 15% instead, plus a monthly Credit Drop — What is Croissant Premium?.

Hold — your credit sits in your Wallet until you spend it. Credit you earn from shopping shows as pending first and becomes available once the return window closes (about 45 days); Credit Drops are usually ready to spend right away.

Redeem — spend your credit: apply it when you pay with Croissant, or convert it to a gift card at Revolve or FWRD.

Quick reference

Term

In one line

Credit

Your total balance — flex credit + any Credit Drops

Earned Credit

Earned balance from shopping + selling; spend anywhere; doesn't expire

Credit Drops

Bonus from Croissant or a partner merchant; sets its own minimum, used in full (no leftover), expires, non-refundable once used; most are tied to a specific retailer (brand shown on the card)

Premium Credit Drop

A monthly drop Premium members claim — take it as $100 to spend with Croissant Pay partners, or a $50 Revolve/FWRD gift card; expires ~30 days

10% credit back

10% of your purchase back (as flex credit) when Croissant is active at checkout

Buyback

Resale value that returns to you as credit when you sell; can rise or fall with the market, then locks in (guaranteed) the moment you start a sale

Earn / Redeem

Earn = receive credit; Redeem = spend it

Gift cards

Credit converted into a Revolve or FWRD gift card (the only gift cards available right now); a return refunds back to that gift card (unlike a Credit Drop, which isn't restored)

Pending vs. available

Pending = not yet spendable (~45 days); available = ready now

Wallet

Where your credit, Credit Drops, and gift cards live

Kinds of Credit Drops

How you use a drop depends on its kind:

  • Flexible credit drops — spend at checkout with Croissant at any Croissant Pay partner; can't be converted to a gift card. Your Wallet labels these "Flexible Credit Drop" (not the same as your earned credit). Your Premium monthly drop, claimed as the $100 option, is one — as are Croissant's occasional promotional drops.

  • Merchant drops — tied to one retailer (brand shown on the card); pay with Croissant at that retailer's checkout.

  • Revolve & FWRD drops — convert to a gift card only.
